Hello
I'm Safi, a qualified and experienced Bariatric & Emotional Eating Therapist, as well as a Therapeutic Coach and Disordered Eating Practitioner. For over 25 years, I have worked with both adults and children battling poor mental health and addictions. Additionally, I have personally grappled with chronic weight issues for over three decades, giving me first-hand insight into the challenges of yo-yo dieting and the emotional toll of regaining weight repeatedly.

Since the age of eight, I have faced chronic obesity and tried countless diets, losing significant weight only to gain it back—sometimes more. In 2015, I turned to weight loss surgery, believing it to be the solution. However, with minimal aftercare, I quickly realised that surgery was only one part of the process. Developing a robust mindset was crucial for achieving long-term success.

I understand how difficult it can be to feel trapped in a cycle of dieting, emotional eating, and weight loss struggles. My commitment is to guide you on your journey toward lasting change. Together, we will delve into the root causes of your challenges, empower you with practical tools for success, and help you build a healthier, sustainable mindset for the future.

I am passionate about helping individuals break free from the diet trap after weight loss surgery. My goal is to empower you to develop a mindset that safeguards your progress, conquers emotional eating, and fosters long-term behavioural change. Everyone deserves comprehensive emotional support, yet that isn't always available for those dealing with food addiction or disordered eating. This belief inspired me to create the Gastric Mindset Podcast, where I share valuable insights and psychoeducation designed to support your mindset and help you achieve your weight loss goals.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
With over 20 years of experience, I specialise in developing and delivering comprehensive training and workshops for health professionals. My expertise spans a wide range of topics, including:

-
The psychological impact of female genital mutilation (FGM)
-
Promoting positive body image among young girls
-
Reducing stigma, fatphobia, and unconscious bias in healthcare settings when treating individuals with obesity

Drawing from my personal journey of battling obesity from childhood and throughout my life, I am deeply committed to fostering understanding and compassion within the medical community. My training programs aim to equip healthcare providers, schools, fitness professionals, and bariatric centres with the tools to address the negative psychological impact of living with obesity across the lifespan.

Through these programs, I emphasise the importance of supporting sustainable behavioural change without promoting harmful or distorted eating patterns. This approach reduces the need for bariatric surgery and ensures that individuals who do undergo surgery receive comprehensive aftercare to maintain their progress and prevent the cycle of repeated procedures.

Additionally, I offer specialised training to engage traditionally hard-to-reach communities. These programs focus on breaking down barriers, fostering trust, and providing culturally sensitive support for promoting a healthy lifestyle and weight management for children and families.
Whether you are a medical professional, trainee, or organisation seeking to improve your understanding of obesity and emotional well-being, my tailored training workshops are designed to create lasting impact and meaningful change.
